As we round the corner to the holidays, families are facing some unique challenges this year. Many of us find ourselves hunched over our devices doing school, working from home, and even sometimes doing both. Between current local and state restrictions couples with changes in the weather, it can be hard to get our bodies moving.

Nothing chases the winter blues away like exercise. Of course, this doesn’t have to mean doing a 5k in the snow. Instead, find some local nature walks that are family-friendly and welcome all skill levels. There are many cities and neighborhoods hosting walk thru lighting displays, which is an easy holiday activity that everyone can enjoy.

Best of all, when the snow falls, you can sneak outside to build a fort or have a friendly (and safe) snowball fight. And… did you know that sneaking out *isn’t* just for teenagers? Why not wait until everyone is tucked into bed, then after the stars are out, wake up everyone from their beds, rush them outside to make snow angels, and look at the stars. Everyone can snuggle on the couch and enjoy some hot chocolate after. A fun, memory-making twist that is pandemic approved!
