Combining Pilates and Chiropractic Makes for a Positive Outcome in Your Health
Over the past year, I have been utilizing Pilates as a method of exercise in order to create optimal core strength. I feel it has made a huge difference in my health and I wanted to share how it improves balance, flexibility, and strength.
Like Chiropractic, Pilates focuses on how different parts of your body line up, called alignment. When the alignment is off, uneven stresses on the skeleton, especially the spine, are a result. Pilates has specific exercises that pay attention to alignment, help strengthen muscles in the back, and creates muscle strength and development. Pilates focus is on building strength from the core and working around the natural alignment of the spine.
By performing Pilates, weak and injured areas can be stabilized and strengthened for effective relief and a stronger body. Pilates has especially been shown to be an excellent source in helping to relieve back pain. One of the most common posture problems is the tendency to tuck or tilt the pelvis, which both create weakness. These positions deny the spine of its natural curve and they can create a domino effect of pain throughout the spine.
By addressing the underlying structural imbalances in the body, Pilates, combined with regular Chiropractic adjustments, increases the awareness of the proper placement of the spine and pelvis, leaving you feeling healthier and stronger.
